- Purchasing a Custom Domain
- Duda Support > Responsive Website Builder > Going Live
Use a custom domain (e.g. www.yoursite.com) to make it easy for customers to find your website online. If you don't already own a domain name, you'll need to purchase one to connect to your website. A custom domain puts your brand front and center, making your website more memorable to visitors and allowing you to set up additional security measures for your site.
Purchasing a Domain with Google Domains
Through our integration with Google, you can opt to purchase a domain within the editor's publishing flow. When you purchase your domain this way, Google automatically configures the domain settings to work with your new responsive website. That's right, no complicated CNAME record or 301 redirect setup is required for domains purchased through the Google / Duda integration.
To get started, publish your site by clicking the Publish button on the top bar.
Click 'Change Site Address'.
Select 'Purchase a new domain for your site'. Click the Google Domains logo.
Next, purchase your domain from Google.
After completing the purchase process, your new domain will be automatically connected with your responsive website.
Purchasing a Domain with Hover
Through Duda's partnership with Hover, you can opt to purchase a domain from within the DudaOne publish flow. When you purchase your domain this way, Hover will automatically configure the domain settings to work with your new DudaOne website. That's right, no complicated CNAME record or 301 redirect setup is required for domains purchased through the Hover / Responsive Website Integration.
Publish your site, then click Change Site Address.
Select 'Purchase a new domain for your site'. Click the Hover logo.
Purchase your domain from Hover.
After purchase, you will be prompted to connect your new domain with your Duda site. Just click the button to complete set-up and go back to Duda.
Other Domain Registrars
While we strongly recommend buying your domain from the editor's publish flow, you can purchase your new domain name from any domain registrar (e.g. GoDaddy.com).
Please see the list of domain registrars that work well with our editor here.
When you purchase your domain from a different registrar, you'll need to follow additional steps to connect the domain to your website. Please see Basics: Setting up your domain for an overview, or check out the domains section for specific instructions for your provider.
Do I have to purchase a domain?
A custom domain name is not required to view your site. You can publish your site using the default domain (e.g. yoursite.multiscreensite.com).
When choosing a registrar, make sure the registrar you choose supports CNAME records and 301 redirects.
If you already own a domain, then you can connect it to your responsive site by following the instructions here.
