Change Blog Author

This article refers to a previous version of the Duda Responsive Website Builder. Click here for help content on the current Duda editor.

Overview

The author of a blog is tied to the users who have access to the site. If you have a Duda Pro account, you are able to manage author posts by going into the post settings and choosing from a group of users that you have set to access the site. If you do not have a Duda Pro account, you can change the author of the blog by changing the name on the account.

Change Account Name

If you are a standard user, that means you are not able to change the author name from the editor.

You can, however, change the account name, which will also change the author of the blog posts.

To change your account name, follow the instructions below.

  1. From the dashboard, click on Account then General.
  2. Enter the first and last name you would like to use, then click the change button to save your changes.  The name entered here will be used as the post author in the blog.

If you are a DudaPro user, you can change the author name straight from the post settings instead.

Editing post author

Before you change the post author, first make sure that you have assigned other users to your site - Otherwise, you will only be able to assign the author to yourself.

If you have not yet set up any users to access your site, please visit this support article here to do so.

A user needs to at least have permissions to edit the blog.

  1. To edit the author for a blog post, first go to manage posts.
  2. Once you’re there, choose to either add or edit an existing post.
  3. Click on “Post Settings” (choose yes/no to save your work).
  4. Scroll down to “Author”. You can choose an existing author by entering the email address or name - If a user has permissions to sufficient permissions, their name will pop up after entering their information.

FAQ / Troubleshooting

When I enter the author information, nothing shows up

Please make sure that you have set a user with blog permissions to access your site.

Do I need to give a user permissions to edit a site?

No. You only need to give a user permission to access the blogging features in order for them to post as an author.

When I try to edit the author name, it’s grayed out/disabled.

This feature is only available to Duda Pro subscribers.

How come this feature isn’t available to standard users?

This feature requires the user management feature to work - Since standard users do not have the ability to assign users to a site, this feature is not compatible with non Duda Pro users.

What happens if I delete a user?

If you delete a user from our site, their name will remain on the blog posts until it is manually changed.
